QUNETIX SD - Release 2.0.1

Release Notes - March 15, 2005

This CD contains QUNETIX SD and QUNETIX SD Lite software.

Your purchased license will determine which of these applications may be run after you install it. A license for QUNETIX SD will convert any QUNETIX SD Lite application to the full-featured QUNETIX SD without requiring reinstallation.

QUNETIX SD has been enhanced to offer these additional features over QUNETIX SD Lite or QUNETIX SE:

  • Scheduling is available for the Acquire operation, the Test Portfolio operation, the Distribute, Retry or Redistribute Release operations and the Rollback operation.

  • Additional Users may be added to the five, pre-installed default Master-Administrators.

  • User Roles have been added to secure various responsibilities that are assigned to a particular type of user.
  • The new roles are

    • Master Administrator
    • Project Administrator
    • Operator
    • Approver
    • Auditor

  • An Audit Trail Viewer has been added that allows Adminstrator users to review a report for a selected time frame outlining every Client-Server transaction.

  • Additional Application Logging may be enabled to produce detailed, daily logs of events for the Agent, Client and Server components of the system.

  • Upgrading of the Agent software may be done remotely with the Remote Agent Update facility on the GUI.

  • The communication port used by Target machines to communicate with the server may be modified from their default value.

  • Personal Workspace Messages are presented when a user logs in or upon request that provide a listing of all scheduled operations that are pending, in progress, or completed that the user is authorized to see.

  • Password Aging has been included to permit Master Administrators to enforce a password expiry date and require regular updates for all passwords.

  • A Lost Password Recovery utility has been added. In the event that all Passwords have been lost, Emperex can issue a one-time use, expiring password to access QUNETIX SD.

Known Problems

Do not assign any scripts for target machines with Win NT 4 operating systems.

QUNETIX SD and QUNETIX SD Lite allow user-defined scripts to be run at each target machine as Pre-Deployment scripts, Post-Deployment scripts, On-Error scripts or Rollback scripts.

Target machines with Win NT 4 operating systems may have agent software installed on them and may be designated targets in a distribution but will not support the script functions of the Build Portfolio Task.

Warning: Running any scripts for targets on this operating system may corrupt your QUNETIX SD database. Contact Emperex Support if assistance is required.

We are investigating the cause of this problem and we expect to address it in the next release of the product

Avoid using Apostrophe (') when creating Machine Group Names.

Creating a Machine Group with a name containing an apostrophe such as "Manager's Group" will be permitted by the client but will terminate the application when the Build Portfolio Task is opened.

If such a group has been created in error and is causing this problem, it may be deleted, which will rectify the situation. Field validation to prevent such names will be added in QUNETIX SD 2.1.
